Recently, the Dapeng Customs of the Shenzhen Customs successfully seized a batch of suspected waste materials in a routine inspection inbound empty containers, exposing the underhanded tactics of illegal elements attempting to "smuggle" waste materials into the country using empty containers.
It is understood that during the process, customs officers discovered that the containers, which should have been empty, were filled with all kinds of discarded items in a mess – old bed mattresses with obvious dust, stains and mold spots on the surface, black plastic bags with scattered lint and broken foam rubber hardened bodies mixed in disorder, and severely damaged cardboard boxes stuffed with torn plastic bags waste paper, and empty beverage bottles.
After professional appraisal, it was confirmed that the batch of items were all waste materials that had been used and discarded, which had lost their original functions and utilitarian value, and were classified as "foreign waste" that is explicitly prohibited from import into China. At present, the case has been officially transferred to customs anti-smuggling department for further handling in accordance with the law.
The legal red line must not be touched, and there is zero tolerance for the import of foreign.
China has always maintained a "zero tolerance" attitude towards the import of foreign waste, explicitly banning the import of foreign waste in any form, and also prohibiting the, stacking, and disposal of foreign waste within the territory of China. This regulation is not only to protect the safety of the ecological environment but is also an important measure to safeguard public.
Importing enterprises and related entities must strictly comply with the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solidastes" and other relevant laws and regulations. Once it violates the law by importing foreign waste into the country, the customs will order the return of the batch of foreign waste in with the law and impose a fine on the relevant responsible person; if the act constitutes a crime, criminal responsibility will also be pursued according to law
