Ellerman City Liners, part of the GB Global group, has acquired the Norwegian short sea shipping operator Viasea Shipping from Colli Holding, for an undisclosed amount.


Founded in 2016, Viasea Shipping operates scheduled routes between the UK, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland Lithuania, with a differentiated competitive edge in green shipping technology.


Commenting on the deal, GB Global founder Iain Liddell said: “This acquisition is just about growth; it’s about redefining the future of short sea shipping. By combining Ellerman’s UK-based expertise with Viasea’s flexible short network and sustainable solutions, we’re building a pan-European network offering fast, reliable and greener solutions to customers across Europe.”


According to the information, Ell City Liners is a UK-headquartered container shipping line with a brand history dating back to 1892, revived and launched container shipping services by the 40year-old British traditional freight forwarder Uniserve in 2021, but subsequent equity or management rights may have changed. The company focuses on providing intermodal solutions supply chain services.
