According to a report by Reuters, Nigeria's anti-narcotics agency is working with its U.S. and British counterparts investigate the source of a $235 million cocaine seizure at the Tin Can Port in Lagos, one of the largest drug busts in the country to date.

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of Nigeria stated in a statement on Tuesday that 1,000 kilograms of cocaine were discovered in an empty container at terminal over the weekend. The terminal operators alerted the NDLEA and other port security agencies, who then jointly inspected the consignment.

The drugs were officially handed over the NDLEA on Tuesday, following tests that confirmed the substance to be cocaine.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the British National Crime Agency were invited by Nigerian government to join the investigation.

Buba Marwa, the Director-General of the NDLEA, stated, "Our collaboration with our international partners in this case aimed at ensuring that no stone is left unturned, so that ultimately, all the kingpins behind this massive drug trafficking case are brought to book, no matter where they are the world."
