Recently, a semi-submersible transport vessel loaded with key infrastructure materials for the expansion of ports West Africa set sail from the Dajiyun anchorage in the Port of Guangzhou under the strict supervision of the Huangpu Customs, which falls under the jurisdiction of Huangpu Laogang Customs.

This operation, as the first export business completed after the Port of Guangzhou was officially approved for expansion, signifies the commencement of operation mode for the Dajiyun anchorage. It opens up a new and efficient maritime route for China's infrastructure "going out" and contributes to the joint construction the "Belt and Road" initiative.

The anchorage is an area of water where ships can anchor to avoid storms, wait for pilots, and conduct cargo transship operations. The Dajiyun anchorage, located in the Pearl River Estuary waters, has become one of the large production-type anchorages with excellent water depth conditions in Pearl River Delta port group, thanks to its superior geographical location. It has a strong operational capability, capable of supporting ultra-large vessels of 150,000 and above to carry out a variety of operations such as lightening, transshipment, large-scale equipment semi-submersible loading and unloading, and clean fuel replen. It is a key hub for the combined sea and river transport in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. With the continuous deepening of the of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the demand for large vessels to lighten and transship here and then transfer to the wharf by vessels is becoming increasingly strong. In December of this year, the Dajiyun anchorage was officially incorporated into the Port of Guangzhou system and achieved regular open operation.

"The commencement of regular operation of the Dajiyun anchorage not only optimizes and upgrades the functional layout of the Port of Guangzhou but also injects vitality into the collaborative development of the port group in the Greater Bay Area. According to preliminary estimates, it can add more than ten million tons of new foreign trade cargo throughput capacity year," said the person in charge of Guangzhou Port Shipping Co., Ltd.

To ensure the smooth progress of the first operation, Huangpu Laogang Customs took the initiative to provide proactive and frontline. Relying on the "Anchorage Smart Supervision Platform" independently developed, it provides "one-stop" convenient services for enterprises. Various links such as ship entry and, cargo declaration, and port operation plan are all handled online, effectively ensuring that equipment is "inspected upon arrival at the anchorage and released after inspection." In the supervision, Huangpu Laogang Customs further deepened the "Port-Port-Enterprise" collaborative linkage mechanism, implemented a "three-in-one" model of boarding, one inspection, and one release for anchorage operations, and comprehensively used advanced technological means such as 5G video and intelligent recognition to achieve precise supervision of " on-site." While building a solid safety defense line at the port, it minimizes interference with on-site operations and effectively improves overall customs clearance efficiency
