CMA CGM announces: ten 24,000 TEU LNG-powered vessels, the largest in the world, to be registered in

At Assises de l'économie de la mer 2025, Rodolphe Saadé, and CEO of the CMA CGM Group, announced that the Group will take delivery of ten LNG dual-fuel vessels of 24,212 standard boxes, the largest and most energy-efficient vessels in the world, which will be registered in the French International Register (RIF).


These vessels, which can be the largest container ships in the world, will operate in compliance with French law in terms of safety and working conditions, thus maintaining the excellence and influence represented by the French flag. TheseNG dual-fuel vessels can use two low-carbon alternative fuels, bio-methane and e-methane, which respectively allow a reduction of 67% 85% in CO2 emissions, while significantly reducing the atmospheric pollutant emissions including SOx, PM2.5, and NOx. With their large capacity, which the carbon-intensity performance, these vessels truly embody the commitment of the CMA CGM Group to make maritime transport more sustainable and responsible.

Rodolphe Saadé: “CMA CGM has decided to register ten 24,000-TEU LNG new from next year under the French flag, the largest ships in the world, which demonstrates our confidence in the maritime industry in France and its actors. We will recruit 135 seafarers and strengthen our partnership with ENSM, the French maritime school. The vessels will call in France in the two major ports of Le Havre and Dunkirk on the Europe-Asia trade route, at a time when the strategic role of maritime transport is increasingly crucial in the global economic and geopolitical landscape. This will allow us strengthen our presence in France.”
