With the formation of cyclonic storm 'Ditte', ports in southern Tamil Nadu have received an alert from the authorities.
Ports in the region include Chennai Port, Ennore Port, Kattupalli Port, and Karikal Port.
According to the Global Disaster Alert and Coord System (GDACS), the storm is currently located off the coast of Sri Lanka and over the southwest Bay of Bengal. It is expected to continue moving north-northwestwards crossing the coast of Sri Lanka and the southwest Bay of Bengal, and reaching near the northern Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh early on 30.
Currently, ports in the affected areas are still functioning normally. However, the situation may change with the weather conditions.
The India Meteor Department (IMD) predicts that from November 28 to 30, heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is expected to occur throughout Tamil Nadu
