Alarm! A Large Cargo Ship Caught Fire While Docking at a Chinese Port, and the Accident Investigation Is Ongoing.

On the evening of January 3rd, the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier "Rotterdam Pearl V" caught fire whilething at the Beihaiwan Port in Yingkou, China. There have been no reports of casualties.
The accident occurred at around 9:40 pm. local time, when flames and thick smoke were seen billowing from the vessel. The crew of the "Rotterdam Pearl V" promptly activated emergency procedures and notified port for assistance.
The Yingkou Port Emergency Support Center, local fire departments, and maritime authorities immediately responded by dispatching rescue personnel, fire engines, and fireats to the scene to extinguish the flames. Firefighters conducted an assessment at the scene and took measures such as water spray cooling and direct fire extinguishing. The authorities confirmed that the fire had been successfully extinguished, and there was no risk of re-ignition.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the fire was caused by a plug the ship, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
The "Rotterdam Pearl V" is a bulk carrier built in 2010, with a of 189.99 meters, a width of 32.29 meters, and a deadweight tonnage of 58,020.
According to MarineTraffic data, the ship departed from Shanghai on December 19th and arrived at the Beihaiwan terminal on December 31st, where was still docked at the time of the accident.
According to media reports, the bulk carrier was detained in December due to a Port State Control (PSC) inspection
