Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) Revision – Asia Far East to Mediterranean
Maersk will revise the Peak Season Surcharge for shipments from Asia Far East to the Mediterranean, effective August 11, 2025.
Covered Asian countries include Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, Mongolia, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The PSS applies to all container types.
Example route: Shanghai, CN to Koper, SI.
Heavy Weight Surcharge (HWS) Weight Trigger Revision – Asia to Northern Europe and Mediterranean (E1W/E2W)
Maersk will adjust the weight trigger for the Heavy Weight Surcharge on 20-foot dry containers from Asia to Europe and the Mediterranean, effective August 11, 2025.
The surcharge will apply to cargo exceeding 28 metric tons gross weight.
The same Asian countries as above are included.
When the verified gross mass (VGM) exceeds this weight threshold, the heavy weight surcharge will be applied. The VGM includes cargo weight, dunnage and bracing, plus the tare weight of the container.
