Danish shipping giant Maersk has once again expanded its fleet with the arrival of a powerful new member — the Beijing Maersk. Belonging to the same advanced series as the Berlin Maersk, Maersk’s 14th methanol dual-fuel vessel which was named and entered service in June this year, the Beijing Maersk embodies the company’s shared vision and ongoing commitment to sustainable shipping.

On July 25, the naming ceremony of the Beijing Maersk was held in Ulsan, South Korea. This event marked the official launch of the vessel’s journey on the global maritime stage.

The Beijing Maersk is truly a “steel giant” at sea. Measuring 350 meters in length and 65 meters in width, with a container capacity of 17,480 TEU, the vessel showcases exceptional transport capabilities, enabling it to efficiently meet the growing logistics demands of global trade.

Equipped with an advanced methanol dual-fuel engine, the Beijing Maersk represents another solid step in Maersk’s response to global environmental challenges and its pledge to decarbonize the shipping industry. As a cleaner alternative to conventional fuels, methanol significantly reduces carbon and pollutant emissions during operation, contributing to the protection of marine ecosystems.
